Things at LaNa have been VERY busy lately!!!
I've got a houseguest (my old roommate, Jen, from San Francisco!) visiting me this weekend. She will be in for the fundraiser in honor of my sister - Art for the Cure of Cystic Fibrosis. It's the Second Annual and we are SUPER excited!
Needless to say, my postings have been sporadic as I prepare for the big day.
More to come soon!!

Got Compost?
After feeling guilty for tossing kitchen and yard waste, I've decided to start composting! I looked for a composter for a while before deciding on one sold through Washtenaw County for the low price of $12!
The bin, produced by Presto Company, was simple to put together and isn't an eye sore in my yard. Now those tea bags, coffee grounds, and the TONS of leaves in my yard will be put to good use. Now, I've just got to be patient and wait for nature to take its course....

Before & After
I finally got an opportunity to paint my buffet! Thank you to everyone that voted on color options. As you see, I decided to go with International Orange in honor of my love for San Francisco. I LOVE how it turned out!

More pics of LaNa!

I'm shopping for a tree or bush to go in the front (to the right looking from the street). I'm thinking that a Mock Orange may be perfect!

A bunch of you have been asking for more pics of the house...so, here are some of the front yard. Everyday there seems to be more flowers sprouting. The previous owner loved to work in the yard and it shows - lots of bulbs!! More pics of the rest of the house to come....

A BIG thank you...
...to my dad and friend Marty. Between the three of us we have transformed my one-and-only bathroom into a spa-like retreat! I'll post some before and after pics when the finishing touches are all said and done.

Before & After
A while back I found this cute table for just $10 http://lanaa2.blogspot.com/2008/01/cute-table.html. I've since painted it a fun turquoise color that I just love and it is sitting in my livingroom. A great find from Treasure Mart!

DIY Home Cleaners
In my quest to be more eco-friendly, I stumbled upon the DIY household cleaners in the National Geographic's Green Guide.
Their DIY Diva, Donna Garlough, posted some great alternatives to the harsh cleaners on the market. Plus, they're healthier and made from things you may already have in your cupboard!
Who doesn't like that?
I've been using white vinegar and warm water on my hardwood floors and have been very pleased.
Happy spring cleaning!!

Not the best picture - it was taken quickly with my cell - but it shows Navin in his usual lounging position while eating/drinking! And, Kaleigh is in the background ready to sneak a taste!! The heart on the wall was a gift to Navin from my sister with his name on it. Some wall art for him to mark his territory!Wednesday, February 27, 2008

Weekend updates....
This weekend I allowed myself to just vege out and enjoy the new pad. Whew!!
Had a great sleepover with Auds, Barb, and Sam. Good times! I'll post pictures soon, but will let you know that we made some updates in the kitchen and with the front door!! Now, that doesn't sound like relaxation, but Sam did all the work while I took pics!
Sunday had a wonderful home cooked meal with Leslie (THANK YOU!), Galen, Maureen, Emily, and Auds. Without a fridge, I've been limited with what I can cook. But, that will change when on Valentine's Day I am delivered a wonderful new fridge of my own. !!
I'm planning on painting the buffet this week, but will keep the winning color a surprise!!
Enjoy your week!

Flowers and a fridge!
Thanks Mom!
Lucky for me, my Dad and Step-mom are getting ready for a kitchen renovation and delivered me their "previously used" fridge and stove!! Unfortunately, the fridge has decided it didn't want to leave the comfort of their house and I am shopping tonight for it's replacement. Ahh, the joys of being a homeowner!!
