I bought this table (which seems to be all the rage lately!) at my local haunt for just $10!!

I'm pleased with my find and plan to jazz it up with some color! After pics to come soon....

The buffet...continued!

Thank you to everyone who has voted on a color for my buffet! I had no idea it would be so hard to pick!!



Another color was just put into the mix too - International Orange!! A throw back to my days in SF.



It has been said that orange is good in dining rooms...and, that's where the buffet sits. Hmmm....

Buffet that needs some TLC!

Here is a pic of the buffet that needs a bit of care. Sadly, previous owners didn't take the best care. The pictures don't do the damage justice...it really is in desperate need of a facelift! However, it was a bargain for me at just $25!!

Originally, I thought I would refinish, but looking at all the dark wood around the room have decided paint would be the best. Besides, I don't want the place to end up looking like granny's!!

Move in begins!

The boxes are starting to arrive!

This weekend I emptied my storage unit - hurray! It is a little intimidating, but I am having a good time going through all the boxes. A great opportunity to purge some of the items I haven't thought about since they went into storage a few years ago. And, like Christmas again for the items I've been longing for since relocating from the west coast.

I will add some more pics when the place is more tidy!

What a BIG week!

This week started with some carpet removal and the hopes to buff the wood floors in two of the upstairs bedrooms. Those hopes were quickly shattered once I saw the condition of the floors. There was quite a bit of paint covering them, but I knew they could be brought back to life! Allied Floors did a great job of sanding them. I'll attach pics of the before with carpet, without carpet and looking terrible, and then after 1 of the 3 coats of sealer.

I also got a new roof this week. MBC took care of the job and did a fantastic job. Bless them for working in such cold conditions! I've got the before pics, but a dusting of snow has covered up their handy work. An after pic will come soon!

Movers bring most of my stuff this weekend - exciting stuff!

Telephone Table

Here are the before and after pics of my telephone table that I found at an antique store for next to nothing. It needed a bit of TLC and now I am loving it! And, it fits perfect behind my front door and next to the coat closet. A great place to put on your shoes or, as it is intended, to use while talking on the phone!

Good morning!

Last night, with the help of my friend Traci, we started working on the kitchen floor. I decided to go with a retro black-and-white tile since it fits the style of the kitchen. It's an inexpensive fix that doesn't take long to do. I'm posting a before and mid-way picture. I anticipate finishing the job tonight and will have the after pic for you tomorrow.

Help from the family artist!

My niece kindly assisted with painting the kitchen last night. At just 2 1/2, I think she's got a great eye!

It made me sad to have to paint over it, but I plan on giving her a place at the back of the fridge to make-her-mark over the final coat. Of course, I will take pics!!

Samantha and I placed the first coat of paint on the kitchen walls last night and it looks great! (Thanks Sam!) Tonight I am putting a black-and-white tile floor down in the kitchen with Traci. Gotta love progress!

Oh, and I FINALLY got a couch! Actually, Samantha is loaning me a couch until I can find one of my own. It is a really special "Hollywood-era" piece in a goldish yellow that once sat in her grandparents home. It is quite a treasure and very meaningful knowing where it came from. It's got the lines and tufting that I was looking for and looks wonderful with my paint color. Now, I just need to figure out where to place it in the living room!

Poor Squirrel!

It seems that a squirrel was behind my water heater not working appropriately. Bless the heart of this little guy that crawled into the vent to stay warm...but, didn't make it. The joys of being a home owner!!??

Decisions, decisions!

Tomorrow is the scheduled closing. I won't believe it until I have pen-in-hand!

Until then, I continue to shop for a couch. This is something that should be fun, but is proving to be as much of a commitment as the house!!

So far, I keep coming back to the Berkeley couch by Rowe Furniture. A local retailer has it in stock and I think it's a pretty good deal. More importantly, it is comfy and stylish with the tufting that I love. !!

Almost a home owner!

The closing date draws near on my first home and a wave of excitement and nerves have begun to take over! Stay tuned for some first looks at the new pad and the transformation that will soon be underway!
